saxeT (Physical Copy)
saxeT was written with a request to include a melodic theme that spelled out the word "Texas". The melody was chosen by Jessica to spell out the name of Texas. It is as follows: B (which is to represent T or ti), E double sharp to represent the e and x, A to represnt the A and A♭ to represent the S. The idea for the piece was born of that. Texas is a vibrant state consisting of many contradictions that work together as a whole. The same is in this piece. Textures combine and are juxtaposed, colors mix in ways you don't expect, everything works together but not always fitting the way that you would like.
saxeT is wonderfully abrasive piece for any recital, written to emphasize the juxtaposition of the differing sections, it can be listened to below.
